Which window film do I need?
A plain-English route to the right film based on the problem you want to solve.
Start with the problem, not the product.
Too much heat
If a room overheats, you need a solar control film. Reflective grades reject the most heat and add daytime privacy but keep rooms darker; near-clear spectrally selective films keep the view bright while still cutting infra-red heat. On double glazing that overheats, an external grade is usually safer.
Glare on screens
Any solar control or neutral tint reduces glare. A neutral tint avoids the mirror look.
Privacy
Decide when you need privacy. During the day only? A reflective one-way film works — but it reverses at night once your lights are on. Day and night? Choose a frosted or opaque film.
Fading furniture
A clear UV film blocks up to 99% of UV with no change to appearance. For strong sun, add a solar film too.
Safety or security
A safety film holds broken glass together; thicker security films and edge anchoring help delay entry.
