Troubleshooting: bubbles, haze & lifting edges
Fixes for the common problems during and after fitting.
Small bubbles or water pockets
In the first few weeks these are usually trapped water and will clear as the film cures. Do not pick at them.
Haze or milky appearance
Also normal while curing — the adhesive is drying against the glass and can take up to 28 days to become fully clear.
Lifting edges
Usually means the edge was not squeegeed down firmly or the glass was not perfectly clean there. Lift a little, re-wet, and squeegee down. On external film, seal the edges with clear silicone.
Contamination under the film
Specks trapped under the film cannot be removed without lifting. Prevention — a scrupulously clean glass surface — is everything.
